Welcome to the Wine Mole!

 

I am an amateur wine lover, with a Distinction at WSET Level 3, and the aim of this site is to share with you my take on the wines and winemakers that I discover during my travels.

Why the Wine Mole you say? Moles are reknowned for their ability to dig and find what they’re looking for – and my aim is to seek out good and interesting wines, from regions you may know but also from less familiar places.

I will describe each wine that I taste and give it a score on the Wine Mole Scale, which is as follows:

1 Mole  Undrinkable – fling it down the sink
2 Moles Drinkable – OK like cheap pub wine
3 Moles Good Everyday Wine – good quality wine, for everyday drinking
4 Moles Very Good – a wine for the weekend treat
5 Moles Outstanding – wine to impress your friends with at a dinner party
6 Moles Exceptional – wine to drink on a big occasion – like a 40th birthday
